CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Former Western Carolina University Sports Information Director Steve White is at home and resting comfortably after suffering a mild heart attack last week. The Catamount's athletic historian had to have three stents put in his heart after suffering from chest pains after returning from a trip to the College World Series earlier in the week.
"I want to thank everyone who has called and wished me well," White said. "I am doing fine and I am well on my way to recovery."
White admits the scare was a wake-up call. His family has a history of heart problems and he is now making changes to his lifestyle and diet.
"It really was a scare, but I think it was the best thing that could have happened to me - it really opened my eyes," White said. "I am going through cardio-rehab starting next week and I hope to be back to work and behind the desk of the W-Club very soon."
