Catamount Athletics Helps Sylva Police Department "Cops on Top" Surpass Goals

Cullowhee, N.C. - Last weekend, the Western Carolina Department of Athletics teamed with Bojangles' of Sylva and the Sylva Police Department in a fundraiser for Special Olympics North Carolina. Seven Catamount head coaches, along with WCU Director of Athletics Chip Smith and members of the WCU Cheerleading squad and Dance Team, participated in "Cops on Top," fundraiser for Special Olympics North Carolina.

Taking turns spending time atop the Bojangles' in Sylva, WCU Athletics raised $1,300 which was contributed to the organization's overall total of $5,229.05, which was over $1,200 more than their original goal.

Special thanks to everyone that participated and supported this great cause. Special Olympics North Carolina will hold an event this Saturday, April 29 in Cullowhee at the Catamount Athletic Complex. WCU student-athletes from various teams will be volunteering time to assist in this worth-while event.
