Cullowhee, N.C. - The first two stops of the Second Annual "Catamounts Unite Tour" are scheduled for this week as members of Western Carolina University's athletic department and the Catamount Club open the two-month, 12-stop tour in the Piedmont Triad on Wednesday.
The first event is slated for Wednesday, March 27 in Greensboro, N.C., at the Embassy Suites (204 Centrepoint Drive) in Greensboro, with the second stop just one night later at the Carolina Ale House (7981 Skyland Ridge) in Raleigh.
On the heels of the inaugural "Catamounts Unite Tour" that ventured across the region during the winter of 2012, the second annual tour is expanded and will stretch much of the spring of 2013. WCU Director of Athletics Randy Eaton, Head Football Coach Mark Speir and Head Men's Basketball Coach Larry Hunter, as well as several other Catamount coaches, will travel across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, reaching out to members of the Catamount Nation.
The 2013 version of the Catamounts Unite Tour series of receptions is designed to allow Eaton, Speir and Hunter - as well as the other Catamount coaches - to meet with WCU alumni, supporters and Catamount fans as they craft together the vision and direction of Catamount Athletics.
The tour culminates on Tuesday, May 21 with a stop in the Upstate of South Carolina. Along the way, the tour includes in-state visits to the Catawba Valley region in Morganton (April 11), Shelby (May 1) and Charlotte (May 6). The tour will reach the Catamount Nation in Western North Carolina with stops slated for Andrews (April 2), Waynesville (April 18), Sylva (April 19), Franklin (May 14) and Asheville (May 16). The tour also makes a visit to Atlanta, Ga., on May 9th.
