Cullowhee, N.C. - On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the "Catamounts Unite Tour" made a stop in Murphy, N.C., at Brother's Restaurant on Andrews Road. Nearly 30 people came out to meet and greet Western Carolina's new Director of Athletics, Randy Eaton, and head football coach, Mark Speir.
Catamount Club Director Gorham Bradley spoke, introducing WCU Board of Trustee member, Mr. Bill Forsyth who welcomed Eaton.
Among the guests that attended the Murphy stop of the "Catamounts Unite Tour" were former Catamount football players, 1973 All-American Mark Ferguson (1971-73) and Joe Watson (1999-2000), and former four-time All-Southern Conference men's golfer, Matt Cook. Murphy High head coach David Gentry - who coached 2012 WCU signee Seth Curtis - was also in attendance.
The next stop on the "Catamounts Unite Tour" is Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the BlackFinn Saloon in Charlotte, N.C. Then, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, the tour heads to Cherokee, N.C., to the Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel. Start times of both events is 6:30 pm.
