Cullowhee, N.C. – Individual single-game tickets to each of Western Carolina’s highly-anticipated six 2019 home football games at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field are on sale now.

Fans can purchase both single-game and season tickets through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center, by phone at (800) 34-GOWCU or (828) 227-2401, and online at

The 2019 home schedule opens in a huge way as the Catamounts host the Mercer Bears on Sat., Aug. 31 with the Southern Conference opener to raise the curtain on Labor Day weekend. It is just the third time in program history that WCU opens a season with a league match-up – the first since 1986 (at Appalachian State) and for the first time at home since 1980 (vs. VMI). All fans are encouraged to wear purple to the game for the “Purple Out.”

Other headlines of the 2019 home slate include the “Gold Out” against North Greenville on Saturday, Sept. 14 with the first 5,000 fans receiving a gold WCU T-shirt, the Oct. 5 Family Weekend game against nonconference foe, Gardner-Webb, with Homecoming set for Oct. 26 against chromatic-rival, Furman. WCU hosts mountain-rival ETSU in the first “Blue Ridge Border Battle” meeting in Cullowhee on Nov. 9 before facing league-rival, Samford on Nov. 16.

Western Carolina has led the Southern Conference in home football average attendance for two-straight seasons, ranking a program-best 17th nationally in the NCAA FCS in 2018. WCU has ranked inside the top 30 in national attendance in five-consecutive seasons.

“Thanks to the Catamount Nation, our players and staff are fired-up about leading the conference in attendance the past two years – and we want to continue the trend that is quickly becoming a tradition in Cullowhee of having the best gameday atmosphere in the SoCon,” said WCU eighth-year head coach Mark Speir.

All ticket options can be purchased now by visiting or by calling (800) 34-GOWCU or (828) 227-2401.

Fans can still purchase tickets to all six of WCU’s home dates in 2019 with season tickets available through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office. New for 2019 is three different seat types dependent on the stadium seating option at E.J. Whitmire Stadium. Seating options are now divided into reserved chairback, bench back reserved, and traditional stadium bleacher seating options. Season ticket prices start at just $90 for an adult general admission and $55 for a youth bleacher ticket.

A great option for families is the Western Builders Inc., of Sylva “Family Fun Zone.” The WBI Family Fun Zone includes four general admission tickets in Section FF on the East Side for each of the six home games packaged for just $220.
