CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women’s soccer hosts Middle Tennessee, in the second of the Catamounts three-game homestand, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Catamount Athletic Complex.  

 

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:

  • Western Carolina is now 11-10 in season-opening games after the 2-1 win over Garder-Webb Aug. 25.
  • Freshman defender Summit Dann made her first collegiate soccer game memorable scoring the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win over Gardner-Webb. 
  • Middle Tennessee holds a 3-1 overall record against Western Carolina. The Blue Raiders have won the last two meetings. Middle Tennessee’s three wins over Western Carolina have all been shutouts. The Catamounts lone win against the Blue Raiders, in Cullowhee in 2014, was also a shutout defeating Middle Tennessee 1-0.
  • Western Carolina’s match against Middle Tennessee is the second three straight home games for the Catamounts. The homestand concludes on Sunday when WCU hosts UT Martin.

 AN INSIDE LOOK MIDDLE TENNESSEE:

  • Middle Tennessee opened the 2019 season with a pair of wins defeating Evansville on the road 5-1 before returning home to shutout Austin Peay 4-0.
  • The Blue Raiders are led by 2018 C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Peyton DePriest who scored three goals in the pair of games last week.
