CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women’s soccer hosts Gardner-Webb in its season and home opener at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

 

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:

  • Western Carolina is undefeated against Gardner-Webb in seven meetings. The Catamounts have shutout the Runnin’ Bulldogs in five of the seven matchups.
  • The match against Gardner-Webb marks the first of three-straight home contests for Western Carolina.
  • Western Carolina went 1-0-1 in the pair of exhibition games during the preseason. The Catamounts tied Appalachian State 2-2 at home and defeated Winthrop on the road 4-0.
  • All but one of Western Carolina’s home games this season will be played in the evening.

AN INSIDE LOOK GARDNER-WEBB:

  • Gardner-Webb was picked to finish second by the league coaches in the 2019 Big South Preseason Poll.
  • After leading the Runnin’ Bulldogs to a Big South Championship appearance in 2018, Gardner-Webb’s Stina Kleppe was picked preseason Attacking Player of the Year.
  • Gardner-Webb dropped a 1-0 decision to SoCon member Wofford Aug. 15 in the Runnin’ Bulldogs lone exhibition match.
