CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women’s soccer culminated four days of two-a-day preseason practice with an exhibition match with Appalachian State Tuesday earning a 2-2 tie with the Mountaineers.

EXHIBITION: Western Carolina and Appalachian State played three 30-minute periods during the exhibition. Freshman Aliyah Milicia and senior Emily Threatt each scored in the game and Threatt also added an assist.

FITNESS TESTS AND SKILL: Prior to the exhibition with Appalachian State, Western Carolina spent the first four days of preseason executing fitness testing and focusing on skill work. The exhibition was the first taste of live game action for the Catamounts.

PHOTO DAY: Prior to Western Carolina’s exhibition, the Catamounts got new headshots and took team and class photos ahead of the 2019 season.

ONE MORE EXHIBITION: Western Carolina will travel to Winthrop for one more exhibition prior to opening the season at home at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 against Gardner-Webb. The Catamounts will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on the Eagles at 7 p.m.

Up next in this year’s preseason "Get to Know" features is Maryanne Kilgore, a junior defender from Jefferson, Ga. Kilgore was elected as the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) president this past spring.
