Spartanburg, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced the schedule of its women’s basketball league games on Friday morning. Western Carolina will play 14 conference contests, seven at the Ramsey Center and seven on the road.

All of Western Carolina women’s basketball’s conference contest will follow the Thursday and Saturday schedule.

“As the days get shorter and cooler weather arrives, basketball season is around the corner,” said Western Carolina Head Women’s Basketball Coach Kiley Hill. “In another blink, it will be January and we will be opening Southern Conference league play.  SoCon basketball is a league made of incredible coaches and players, and we hope we can be able to meet the challenges ahead of us.  With so many unknowns from our team and the returning experience of teams within the league, there will be a big learning curve this season. This unique experience is an opportunity we look forward to undertaking and will work hard to represent the Catamount faithful in a first-class way regardless of the venue.”

The Catamounts open league play on Thursday, Jan. 9 hosting Chattanooga and closing out the opening week welcoming ETSU Jan. 11 which will be a doubleheader with men’s basketball as they Mercer in the first of two doubleheaders.

Western Carolina will also host Samford (Jan. 30), Mercer (Feb. 1), UNCG (Feb. 15), Furman (Feb. 20) and Wofford (Feb. 22). The Catamounts play their final two conference games on the road to close out the regular season traveling to Mercer Feb. 27 and taking advantage of a leap year to face Samford on the road Feb. 29.

The Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championship presented by General Shale will be held March 5-8 at Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville (the moniker the U.S. Cellular Center will assume Jan. 1) in Asheville, North Carolina, with Sunday’s championship game airing on ESPN3 at 12 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Nov. 1.

Catamount men’s and women’s basketball season tickets are on sale now through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center. An “All Hoops” package which includes tickets to all men’s and women’s basketball home games is only $100 for the entire season. For men’s basketball season tickets reserved, or general admission are $80 and women’s basketball season tickets are $50 for general admission seating. Youth prices are also available for all season ticket options and current WCU faculty/staff have the opportunity to receive discounted tickets.
