Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina opens a five-match homestand on Wednesday as the Catamounts welcome UNCG to the Ramsey Center for a 6 p.m. matchup.

Wednesday’s match will be a Gold Rush night in support of childhood cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear gold as September is national childhood cancer awareness month. Additionally, the team will sign autographs following the match as part of autograph night.

Western Carolina is 6-8 overall and 0-3 in the Southern Conference following weekend road losses to Mercer and The Citadel.

Freshman Sydney Carlson leads the SoCon with 26 service aces, with Western Carolina leading the SoCon with 80 service aces. The Catamounts are second in the league in digs with 805.

UNCG is 7-7 on the season. The Spartans lost 3-1 at The Citadel on Friday before edging Mercer 3-2 on Saturday in Macon, Ga.

The all-time series is tied at 25 with the Catamounts holding an 11-10 advantage in games played in the Ramsey Center.

Following a weekend off the Catamounts host Furman on Oct. 5 and Wofford on Oct. 6. Both matches are scheduled for a 6 p.m. first serve.
