CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Fourth Annual Great Catamount Rubber Duck Race, presented by State Farm Agent, Mike Colombo, will float down Cullowhee Creek Saturday, October 26 prior to the Western Carolina football’s game against Furman. The duck race will get quacking at 2 p.m. prior to kick-off at 3:30 p.m.

Three hundred ducks will be floating down Cullowhee Creek in the now annual event. Catamount fans interested in participating can pick up their FREE duck at Big Mike’s office location in Sylva at 98 Cope Creek Rd, Suite C.

No purchase is necessary and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Just remember, please bring ducks(s) back with you on race day.

After picking up your duck, at Big Mike’s Office, take your duck to the footbridge at the Creek Lot alongside Cullowhee Creek - the bridge is directly across from the Ramsey Center truck tunnel on the Western Carolina University campus.

Participants must drop off and check-in their rubber duck between 1:00 pm to 1:55 pm on Saturday, October 26 prior to the rubber ducks being released at 2 pm. General parking is free at the two WCU baseball parking lots but reminder space is limited. Most other lots near the stadium require a Catamount Club parking pass.

Viewing of the rubber duck race must be limited to the west side of Cullowhee Creek and please ensure your children’s safety at all times.

For the top finishing ducks this year, we will be offering the following top three prizes:

First Place – A Yeti Cooler

Second Place – Two All-Season Tickets to WCU Basketball, good for both men’s and women’s basketball, and a signed basketball from Coach Mark Prosser and Coach Kiley Hill,

Third Place – Catamount Gift Package which includes two home football tickets to Heroes Day on Nov. 9 against ETSU and an autographed football from Head Coach Mark Speir.  

No purchase is necessary. and participants are limited to one rubber duck per entry and participants must be at least two years old to enter. Once the rubber ducks are turned in for the race they will be returned back to Western Carolina Athletics.
