Edisto Island, S.C. – Western Carolina women’s golf posted rounds of 315 and 327 on Sunday, sliding from 14th after the opening round into 15th-place through 36 holes at the Edisto Island Invitational being played at the par-71, 5,902-yard The Plantation Course at Edisto.

Sophomore Maya White leads the Catamount scoring five through two rounds, posting an even-par score of 71 in the first round to sit in a tie for ninth before battling through an 82 in the second round to slide into a tie for 40th overall at 153. White posted four birdies in her first round with one on the second 18 holes on Sunday.

Senior Shannon Heerey (162), playing in her first event of the season, countered an opening-round 85 with a 7-over par 77 in the second to enter the final round tied for 66th, climbing 10 spots over the second 18 holes. Sophomore Harper Gilreath shot her season-best round of 79 in the first round and 83 in the second to match Heerey in a tie for 66th overall with junior Brianna Plummer in 76th after 36 holes with a score of 165 (80-85). Freshman Cassidy Chambers posted a two-round score of 185 (91-94) to sit 83rd entering the final round.

North Florida leads the 16-team field, carrying a one-stroke over Xavier into Monday’s final round, 570-to-571. Delaware sits in third-place, four strokes off the pace at 574, with Seton Hall (575) and College of Charleston (579) rounding out the scoring five.

Delaware’s Thitaree Skulbunpanich holds a stroke-edge over first-round leader now runner-up, Mikayla Fitzpatrick of Xavier, after 36 holes. Skulbunpanich posted rounds of 69 and 65 for a 36-hole total of 8-under par, 134, while Fitzpatrick posted a tournament-low round of 64 over the opening 18 holes before following it up with a 1-under, 71, for a two-round score of 7-under par, 135.

Monday’s final round is scheduled for a 9:00 am shotgun start. WCU’s scoring five will be paired with golfers from William & Mary and Morehead State and will open play between holes No. 14 and 16. Live scoring is available online through GolfStat.com.
