CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Western Carolina women's basketball dropped its home opener to Davidson 70-57 Friday in the Ramsey Center.

The Catamounts were led by sophomore forward Tembre Moates who came off the bench to score 10 points and rip down three rebounds. She was followed by senior forward Sherae Bonner who just missed a double-double with eight points, nine rebounds and also dished out five assists.

Western Carolina led for the first three periods but a massive 26-10 fourth period by Davidson put the game out of reach for the Catamounts. The Catamounts outshot the Wildcats shooting 43.6 percent from the field to Davidson's 40.4 percent but the Wildcats connected on seven big three-pointers and the Catamounts could only sink three -- all in the second half.

Turning Point
Western Carolina led 47-44 after three periods but Davidson outscored the Catamounts 26-10 in the fourth period to come away with the win.

Individual Leaders
- Moates led all Catamount scores with 10 points.
- Bonner had eight points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
- Angel Allen, Tess Harris and Lauren LaPlant each hit a three-pointer for WCU in the game.
- Davidson's Justine Lyon led all scorers with 19 points.

Inside the Box Score
- Davidson was near perfection at the free throw line hitting 21-of-29 from the charity stripe. Western Carolina struggled a bit hitting 6-of-12.
- Davidson hit seven three-pointers in the game.
- Davidson took the lead for good in the third period, after trailing most of the game, when the game was tied at 49, Lyon hit a jumper to put the Wildcats ahead 51-49 and Davidson never trailed again.
- Davidson just edged WCU in rebounds ripping down 36 to the Catamounts 33.
- Western Carolina turned the ball over 19 times to Davidson's 16.
- Davidson got 32 of its 70 points from its bench.

- Western Carolina has now lost 10 straight to Davidson.
- Bonner's nine rebounds against Davidson gives her 664 in her career continuing to rank her 12th in the WCU record books. She now needs six rebounds to move into 11th place.
