Rock Hill, S.C. – Western Carolina senior Kaitlyn Lingard set a new school record in the 6K on Friday as the Catamounts concluded the 2018 season at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet hosted by Winthrop University.

Lingard navigated the 6K course in a new school-record time of 21:11.60 for a 53rd place finish. The previous school record of 21:33 was set by Mara Smith at the 2012 NCAA Southeast Regional meet. Senior Christina Nikolaou set a new personal best with a time of 21:44.30, which is the third-fastest time in program history, as she finished in 90th place. Lindsey Trotter finished in 153rd place with a new personal best time of 22:32. Siena Gates finished with a time of 23:28.50 for a 205th place finish, followed by Jamie Blaylock in 206th with a finishing time of 23:33.40. Peyton Wood finished in 220th with a time of 24:02.90 to wrap up her freshman season. Kate Mattison finished in 240th with a time of 25:35.70 to round out the Catamount finishers.

Senior Jordan Bostian led the Catamounts in the 10K men’s race as he navigated the course in 32:33.0 to finish in 115th. Isaiah Hanna finished in 184th with a time of 34:16.90 followed by Tyler Robakiewicz in 185th with a time of 34:17.40. Justin Tucker completed the race in 34:33.0 to finish in 199th. Ian Reesh crossed the finish line in 34:36.90 for a 202nd place result. Kevin Pack was the final Catamount finisher in 217th with a time of 35:31.70.

NC State was the team winner of the women’s race with Louisville’s Dorcas Wasike claiming the individual title. James Sugira of Western Kentucky was the men’s individual winner with NC State claiming the men’s team crown. Western Carolina finished 25th in the women’s race and 29th in the men’s race.
