Cullowhee, N.C. – The Western Carolina cross country teams will host the 2018 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at the Catamount Athletic Complex. Saturday will be the fourth time in school history that the Catamounts host the conference championship meet and first since 2007.

The men’s race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. followed by the women’s race at 10:45 a.m. Live results for the meet will be available via a link on www.catamountsports.com.

Senior Kaitlyn Lingard has led the women’s team at all three meets this season and has finished in the top-10 in all three events. Lingard scored an eighth-place result at the Pirate Invitational on Oct. 12 as she completed the 6K course in 21:46.05 which is the second-fastest time in school history at that distance. Classmate Jordan Bostian has led the men’s team in each of the three meets this year and has two two-10 finishes.

In 2017, both the men’s and women’s teams scored seventh-place finishes in the conference meet that was held in Spartanburg, S.C. Furman is the defending champion in both the men’s and women’s races.

Western Carolina concludes the 2018 season at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet in Rock Hill, S.C. on Nov. 9.
