Spartanburg, S.C. – Western Carolina shot a team score of 308 on Tuesday, slipping into 16th overall in the final standings with a total of 915 at the Wofford Invitational hosted by the Terriers at the par-72, 6,648-yard Country Club of Spartanburg. The Catamount scoring five was led by freshman Tumi Kúld who came home in a tie for 38th overall.

Kúld countered five bogeys with one birdie on Tuesday to finish with a final round score of 4-over par, 76, concluding the three-round event at 223, sliding five positions in the final standings. Kúld finished the tournament with six birdies. Sophomore Michael Coe fired a final round 80, finishing the 54-hole event with a score of 232, tied for 70th.

Senior George Whitbread climbed four spots in the final order, moving into a tie with freshman teammate Louis Theys as the two were tied for 74th overall at 233. Whitbread posted a second-consecutive round of 5-over par 77 on Tuesday while Theys charted a 78 over the final 18 holes. Theys led the Catamount scoring five with eight birdies at the tournament. Rounding out WCU’s scoring five was sophomore Zach Caudill, finishing tied for 79th overall at 235, closing the tournament with his tournament-low round of 5-over par, 77.

Playing unattached as an individual, WCU’s Chandler Metz finished 88th overall with a three-round score of 257.

Carding its best team round of the tournament, Furman cruised to the team championship by 27 total strokes, carding a three-round score of 25-under par, 839. Austin Peay State was the runner-up at 866, a stroke ahead of third-place Radford (867). USC Upstate (871) finished fourth, two strokes ahead of the two-way tie for fifth between Gardner-Webb and Belmont at 873.

Furman’s Jack Crosby claimed individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 203, six strokes ahead of runner-up Ryan Hall, playing as an individual from South Carolina.

Western Carolina returns to action this Friday through Sunday at the Clemson Intercollegiate, a three-day, 54-hole event that is being held at the Cliffs of Keowee Falls in Sunset, S.C.
