Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina volleyball closes out a four-match homestand this weekend with visits from Chattanooga and Mercer on Friday and Saturday evening. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Friday’s match will be streamed on ESPN3 (cable or satellite subscription required) with Saturday’s match airing on ESPN+ (paid subscription required). Both matches will have free live stats via a link on www.catamountsports.com.

Western Carolina enters the weekend in third place in the Southern Conference with a 14-9 overall record and 8-2 league mark following a pair of 3-0 home wins against UNCG and Furman last weekend.

WCU had two student-athletes earn weekly honors on Monday as senior Meagan Sanchez was named Defensive Player of the Week for the sixth time this season and junior Hannah Price claimed her first Setter of the Week honor. Sanchez 40 digs in WCU’s two wins for an average of 6.67 digs per set and ranks eighth nationally with 467 total digs. Price finished with 71 assists and an average of 11.83 assists per set. She is second in the SoCon with 10.33 assists per set.

Chattanooga has been off since a 3-2 loss to Samford on Oct. 23. The Mocs are 5-17 overall and 0-9 in league play having lost 12 straight matches with the last five going to five sets. Senior Dani Szczepanski is fourth in the league with a .315 hitting percentage. WCU leads the all-time series 43-41 following a 3-0 triumph in Chattanooga on Oct. 5 but has not swept the season series against the Mocs since 2013.

Mercer heads into the weekend 11-13 overall and 4-7 in the SoCon after a 3-0 setback at Samford Wednesday. Freshman Jaida Howell leads the league in hitting percentage with a .340 mark. The Catamounts lead the all-time series 16-9 following a 3-2 win in Macon in Oct. 4.
