Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina and Montana have agreed to a two-game football series contract for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the two NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) schools officially announced this week.
The first series meeting will take place at Washington-Grizzly Stadium (25,203) in Missoula, Mont., on Sept. 14, 2024 with the return game of the home-and-home slated for August 30, 2025 at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field.
Montana is one of two opponents announced for the WCU’s 2024 season, opening the year in the capital city against the N.C. State Wolfpack for the second game of a two-year agreement. The Griz is also WCU’s first opponent officially announced for the 2025 campaign.
WCU’s first-ever meeting with Montana also represents the Catamounts’ first opponent from the Big Sky Conference that includes a West Coast and Rocky Mountain region footprint. It will mark the farthest West in the contiguous 48 that the Catamounts have traveled with the Hawai’i trip in 2017 marking the farthest from Cullowhee the football team has ever played.
Montana Athletics Director and WCU AD Randy Eaton worked together on the FCS Selection Committee, hatching the idea to provide a good FCS national matchup, while also providing exposure for both conferences in different markets.
Season tickets for Western Carolina’s 2019 six-game home schedule are on-sale now through the Catamount Athletics ticket office, located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center, by phone at (800) 34-GOWCU, and online at CatamountSports.com. Three different seat types – reserved chair back, bench back reserved, and traditional stadium bleacher – options are available for the six home dates with prices beginning at $90 for an adult general admission and $55 for a youth bleacher season ticket.
Returning season ticket holders must renew their season tickets by June 28, 2019 to lock-in their same seats from last year. Catamount Club members are reminded to renew their memberships by May 31 to also qualify for reserved parking this upcoming fall.
