CULLOWHEE, N.C. – On the heels of their first Southern Conference victory of the 2018-19 season, the Western Carolina men’s basketball team hits the road as the Catamounts travel to Mercer on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest inside Hawkins Arena.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required). The Catamount Sports Network will provide coverage with Gary Ayers and Daniel Hooker on the call. Saturday’s game can be heard on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 in Cullowhee, 105.7-FM/540-AM WRCG in Sylva as well as online at www.catamountsports.com. Live stats will also be available.

Western Carolina is 4-13 overall and 1-3 in Southern Conference play thanks to a 76-69 win over Samford on Saturday afternoon. Onno Steger scored a career-high 23 points as he went 9-for-14 from the field and 5-for-10 behind the 3-point line. Carlos Dotson posted his second straight double-double and seventh of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds, one rebound shy of tying a career best. Kameron Gibson scored 20 points for the second time in four games.

Mercer is 5-10 overall and 0-3 in league play after a 78-74 loss at Wofford on Saturday after suffering a 71-58 setback at Furman on Thursday. Djordie Dimitrijevic and Ross Cummings each scored 21 points while Ethan Stair scored a career-high 16 points against Wofford. The Bears are 5-1 at Hawkins Arena this season.

Thursday’s game is the 16th game in the series with WCU holding a slim 8-7 advantage. The Catamounts are 4-2 in games played in Georgia but have lost their last two visits to Hawkins Arena.

Western Carolina travels to The Citadel on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip-off. That game can be seen on ESPN+ as well as locally on WYCW-62 as part of the SoCon/Nexstar television package.
