Cullowhee, N.C. – A pair of teams looking to halt two-game seasonal skids meet on the gridiron Saturday afternoon as Western Carolina hosts the Chattanooga Mocs in Southern Conference action at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN+ (subscription required).

Tickets for Saturday's “Celebrate 828” and Hall of Fame Day game are available in advance, online at or through the Athletics ticket office located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center and by phone at (800) 34-GOWCU or (828) 227-2401.

Both Western Carolina (3-2, 1-2 SoCon) and Chattanooga (4-2, 2-2 SoCon) were strong out of the gates to open the 2018 season. The Catamounts jumped out to a 3-0 record, the program's best since 1976, while the Mocs started 4-0 for just the sixth time in program history. However, the two have also suffered defeats in their last two outings – WCU on the road at Furman and Samford while UTC faltered against league co-leaders, ETSU, and No. 6 Wofford.

The game also features one of the top offenses in the SoCon as the Catamounts continue to lead the league – and rank 19th nationally – in points per game at 35.8 and are No. 10 nationally, third in the SoCon, with an average of 489.8 total yards per game. WCU faces one of the better defensive units in 2018 in the Mocs as Chattanooga ranks second in the conference – 20th nationally – in limiting opponents to an average of 20 points per game. Whereas the Catamounts have scored 28-or-more points in each game this season, the most the Mocs have allowed in regulation is 24.

The Catamounts play their only home game in a five-game span on Saturday following the road trips to Greenville, S.C., and Birmingham, Ala., with Chattanooga at home before traveling to Mercer and ETSU in consecutive weeks.

In addition to the ESPN+ (subscription required) stream, Saturday's SoCon match-up will be broadcast on the Catamount Sports Network.
