Spartanburg, S.C. – Western Carolina redshirt junior guard Mason Faulkner collected his second consecutive Southern Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday as the league announced its weekly honors, presented by Geico. On Monday, Faulkner was first honored by CollegeInsider.com as the Lou Henson Award Player of the Week.

Faulkner averaged 26 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 steals in a pair of wins last week for WCU. He is the first repeat weekly award winner since The Citadel’s Lew Stallworth claimed the award on Nov. 20 and Nov. 27, 2018.

In Western Carolina’s historic 96-94 double-overtime come-from-behind victory at Jacksonville, Faulkner scored a game as well as a career-high 28 points along with three rebounds and three assists. After scoring seven points in the first half, Faulkner tallied 10 points in the second half as the Catamounts erased a 22-point deficit over the final 6:16 of regulation. The Glasgow, Ky., native then added 11 points during the two overtime periods. With the win, the Catamounts became just the 10th team in Division I history to erase a 22-point second half deficit and the first team ever to accomplish the feat with under nine minutes to play.

Faulkner scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds along with six assists on Sunday in a 70-64 triumph over Stetson. He made a career-best 11 free throws, missing only one attempt at the charity stripe to assist the team with a season-best 88.2 free throw shooting percentage.

WCU returns to the Ramsey Center on Wednesday, hosting Bryan College at Noon. Fans in attendance can purchase hot dogs for $1 courtesy of Aramark.
