CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women’s basketball Head Coach Kiley Hill announced the addition of Kyla Allison to the Catamount roster who is transferring from Middle Tennessee.
“My words will not provide the true excitement of how we feel with Kyla joining our Catamount women’s basketball family,” said Hill. “I truly thank her and her family for taking a chance and believing in our vision of the program. Kyla will be a major catalyst with her maturity and humble leadership ability as we move forward to provide the best possible athletic and academic experience.”
Allison, a 6-0 guard from Orlando, Fla., was a redshirt sophomore for the Lady Raiders in the 2018-19 season playing in 23 games and starting four. She averaged 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in a reserve role.
She missed 25 games in her sophomore year due to an injury setting up her redshirt year last season. As a freshman, in 2016-17, Allison played in 29 games and started 12 including starts in eight of the last nine games. She averaged 3.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in her rookie campaign with Middle Tennessee.
Before arriving at Middle Tennessee, Allison played for Wekiva High School averaging 18 points, seven assists and seven rebounds her senior year. She led her team to three state championship appearances, winning the Florida Class 8A state championship in 2013, and capturing the 2014 Class 7A state title. In 2015, the team was the runner-up at the state championship.
She was a three-star prospect by ESPN, three-time All-State selection and MVP of the 2014 Class 7A state championship.
