Cullowhee, N.C. – As college football prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary this season, the nation's fifth-oldest athletic conference readies for the return of its highly-anticipated football media event, back after a year hiatus. The Southern Conference will host its 2019 Football Media Day on Monday, July 22, at the Spartanburg (S.C.) Marriott.

All nine league head coaches and select student-athletes from each school will be on hand to meet the media and preview the upcoming season. In addition to eighth-year head coach Mark Speir, Western Carolina will be represented by redshirt senior QB Tyrie Adams and senior DB Devarius Cortner.

The afternoon media session will be streamed live through the Southern Conference Digital Network (SoConDN.com), with Pete Yanity serving as moderator (schedule listed below). Newly appointed Southern Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus will be interviewed on the stream to wrap up the day's activities. The full session will be archived on the SoCon website and on the digital network.

The conference's preseason all-conference teams and polls will also be unveiled at the event.
