CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Sophomore Kinley Drummonds, freshman Trini Feggett and junior Justin Tucker each scored individual wins in the women’s pole vault, men’s long jump, and men’s 5,000-meter run, respectively, on the opening day of Catamount Classic on Friday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Drummonds won the women’s pole vault as she cleared a height of 3.60 meters (11’9.75”). Carter Unger finished in third place as she cleared 3.45 meters (11’3.75”).

Feggett led a Catamount sweep of the top eight positions in the long jump as he won with a mark of 7.50 meters (24’7.25”). Shon Pratcher finished in second place thanks to his leap of 7.03 meters (23’0.75”). Benjamin Okafor’s personal record leap of 6.89 meters (22’7.25”) earned him a third-place finish followed by Nicholas Lyons in fourth place at 6.85 meters (22’7.75”) and Cory Alston in fifth at 6.82 meters (22’4.5”). Tyler Hanks’ leap of 6.79 meters (22’3.5”) earned him a sixth-place result followed by Dakota Oxendine in seventh with a mark of 6.77 meters (22’2.5”). Brandon Harvey finished in eighth place with a personal record mark of 6.75 meters (22’1.75”). 

Tucker led a 1-2 WCU finish in the men’s 5,000-meter run as he broke the tape in a personal record time of 15:50.00. Isaiah Hanna was the runner-up in a personal record time of 16:09.90.

In the women’s long jump, Makaila McIntyre was the runner-up with a personal record mark of 5.78 meters. Ronje Williams finished in third place with a personal record mark of 5.77 meters followed by Erin Willard in fifth with a personal record mark of 5.40 meters.

Rachel Rouse finished in second place in the women’s javelin with a personal record throw of 38.31 meters (125’8”). Amy Yarborough finished in seventh place with a top throw that traveled a distance of 28.17 meters (93’8”) followed by Erin Willard in eighth with a personal best throw of 26.90 meters (88’3”).

Dakota Wright was the runner-up in the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 54.87 meters (180’0”). Mac Bennett finished in eighth place with a personal record throw of 45.79 meters (150’2”).

Kate Mattison scored a third-place finish in the women’s 5000-meter run with a personal record of 18:49.52.

Victoria Solheim finished in fourth place in the women’s hammer throw with a personal record throw of 47.62 meters (156’2”). Yarborough posted a fifth-place result with her personal record throw of 47.03 meters (154’3”). Lesleigh Tabor finished in sixth place with a throw of 46.67 meters (153’1”). Simone Williams finished eighth with a throw of 42.90 meters (140’9”).

The meet continues Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the WCU senior day ceremony followed by field events at Noon.
