Marc Gosselin, Western Carolina forward

On His Season-Best Performance Saturday

“My teammates deserve a lot of the credit to put me in this position. I was able to get open and they passed me the ball. Today I knocked down some shots. I’m happy with how I played but getting the win was more important to me. I’m looking to turn this season around and help us get rolling heading into the (conference) tournament.”

On His Senior Season And His Feelings About It

“I have great teammates, we have a great coaching staff. Like coach (Prosser) says, we have a lot of firepower and talent in our locker room and its about executing our game plan. They’re been several games that we should have won and there’s no reason that we can’t turn it around.”

On His Leadership Role Within the Locker Room

“I always try to do my best and help us get better. I think my approach is the most important thing. I’ve always tried to lead by example and its something I’ve tried to convey to the younger players.”

Mark Prosser, Western Carolina head coach

On Marc Gosselin’s Performance

“it’s a lot of fun to see a guy who’s a senior step up and make some plays for us. I think he had a different sort of approach and swagger today, which is good for us as we need that from a senior leader. It’s a different feel at this time of year for a senior because you’re looking down the road and see the light at the end of the tunnel and there’s only a couple of games left. We talked a lot before this game about this game being a springboard for somebody and maybe this is it.”

On the 3-point Shooting Performance

“Our guys work really hard and deserve success because they work at it. When some guys who haven’t shot the ball really well in the last few games work hard at getting better, they deserve the benefits that go with that. We shared the ball well with 21 assists. It was a really good team effort in a game that was important for us to start to build towards the end of the season.”

On Coming Out Strong in the Second Half

“I thought we had a different intensity about it defensively in the second half. I thought we made a consistent effort to guard. Their kids fought hard and I thought our guys did a good job of matching their intensity and toughness level and finishing plays to walk out of here with a good feeling.”

On the Balanced Scoring

“A couple of guys who have sort of been carrying the torch for us throughout the season in Kameron Gibson and Carlos Dotson were the biggest cheerleaders on the bench and in the locker room encouraging those guys. Despite not scoring a lot of points last weekend we’ve been saying that we have a team that has a lot of offensive firepower. Our approach was different today and it’s how we need to be on a game-in and game-out basis. We played with a downhill mentality and aggressiveness that they earned because they worked really hard at it.”
