Cullowhee, N.C. – The 2018 edition of the Western Carolina volleyball team hit the court for the first time on Wednesday as preseason camp got underway at the Ramsey Center. Prior to Wednesday’s two practices, the team held its annual photo day on Tuesday afternoon.
During the late morning session, the team focused on defense and passing. As part of the afternoon session, the team worked on both offensive and defensive skills.
“I’m pleased with the effort on the first day,” head coach Karen Glover said. “We covered a lot of things. They had great energy and great effort. We have a lot of things to work on, but I’m really excited for this group.”
The Catamounts have eight returning players and welcome seven newcomers including six freshmen. Emma Tynan is the lone senior on the roster.
WCU opens the season on Aug. 24, hosting the Catamount Classic for the fourth-consecutive year. Robert Morris, Charleston Southern and Middle Tennessee State will travel to Cullowhee for the two-day event.
