Cullowhee, N.C. - As Catamount football continued its preseason fall camp on Tuesday morning – and as the 2018 home-opener against Newberry rapidly approaches – CatamountSports.com continues its series of question and answer sessions with Western Carolina senior football players to allow fans to further “Get to Know” the Purple & Gold.

 

WCU football held its second practice in helmets and shoulder pads on Tuesday morning leading to the first fully-padded practice on Wednesday, Aug. 8. The week continues with team photo day on Thursday afternoon with a special Facebook LIVE event with head coach Mark Speir slated for Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 pm. The squad will hold its first preseason scrimmage this Saturday, Aug. 11.

 

Both season and single-game tickets for all five home dates in 2018 are on-sale now through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center or by phone at (800)34-GOWCU or (828) 227-2401. Fans can also purchase tickets online by visiting CatamountSports.com. 

 

Up next in this year’s "Catamount Football Q&A series" is JerMichael White, a senior defensive back from Johnson City, Tenn. White has played in 28 career games over the last three seasons and is credited with 89 career tackles including 41 solo stops. He has broken up six passes – five a season ago – in the Catamount secondary.

White: Those wanting to succeed are up while others enjoy sleep.

White: I play safety and we stop or allow touchdowns.

White: Standing for something else besides my city.

White: The support from our students means a lot due to us being able to showcase our hard work as well as defend the mountains from intruders.

White: Beating Samford at home while both were among the rankings.

White: The bonding moments with teammates and other athletes.

White: The ability to get a great education for free due to my hard work and dedication.
