- Western Carolina saw its two-game win streak in the series with Furman snapped … WCU has dropped 16 of the past 19 meetings against the Paladins;

- The Catamounts dropped to 12-30-1 all-time in the head-to-head series with Furman including a 6-16-1 record in games played in Greenville, S.C.;

Post-Game Notes:
- Junior tailback Detrez Newsome recorded two rushing touchdowns in Saturday afternoon’s game marking the eighth-time in his WCU career that he has posted multiple rushing TDs in a single-game … His nine seasonal rushing TDs are one-shy …

- Newsome now has 27 career rushing scores, moving him into a tie for third-place in WCU’s career record books matching Leonard Williams (27, 1979-83) … Newsome by-passed the tie with Fred Boateng (26, 2000-02) and Anthony James (26, 1978-82), who are now knotted in fifth-place;

- Newsome’s 78 seasonal points rank tied for ninth in WCU’s single-season record books … His 13 combined touchdowns this season – nine rushing, four receiving – rank him tied for fourth in WCU’s season ledgers;

- With 56 rushing yards at Furman, Newsome has 916 for the season leaving him 84 yards shy of back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons … Only two WCU running backs have posted consecutive 1,000-yard seasons – Darrell Lipford (1976-77) and Brad Hoover (1998-99);

- All told, Newsome now has 2,513 career rushing yards which moved him past Fred Boateng who rushed for 2,489 yards between 2000-02 … Newsome ranks fourth in WCU’s career record book, less than 500 yards shy of third-place;

- Redshirt senior Spearman Robinson finished with 10 catches at Furman, just his second, double-digit career receiving outing … the Greenwood, S.C., native tallied a 13 catch game vs. Gardner-Webb earlier this season … Robinson now has 153 career catches to move into a tie with former teammate Karnorris Benson (153, 2012-15) for eighth in program history;

- As a part of his 10 catches, Spearman Robinson hauled in his fourth receiving touchdown of the season giving him 17 for his WCU career … Robinson moved into a tie seventh in program history, matching former Catamount Marquel Pittman (17, 2007-10);

- Redshirt junior WR Terryon Robinson was held to a season-low three receptions and the second-fewest receiving yards this season with 40 on Saturday at Furman … With three catches, Robinson moved into a tie for fifth in program history with 167 receptions … He matched former Catamount Jerry Gaines (167, 1970-74) … Terryon’s 70 seasonal receptions rank fourth in program single-season history;

- Redshirt freshman quarterback Tyrie Adams has thrown for 2,437 yards in his first collegiate season, a mark that ranks him sixth in WCU’s single-season record books … His 15 seasonal touchdown passes rank him tied for seventh on the single-season ledgers, matching Chad Greene (15 in 1994) … His 210 seasonal completions rank fourth in WCU’s seasonal record books;

- Adams has amassed 2,702 yards of total offense (2,437 passing; 265 rushing) this season, currently the sixth-best, single-season in program history.

- Western Carolina's team captains for Saturday night’s game were: senior DB #3 Fred Payne; junior RB #21 Detrez Newsome; redshirt junior linebacker #58 Daniel Riddle; and senior OL #62 Ethan James ... Redshirt junior WR #5 Terryon Robinson carried out the American Flag and junior DB #35 Keion Crossen carried the “All You Got” flag during pregame … Furman won the coin toss and deferred; WCU received the opening kickoff.
