Post-Game Quotes
Western Carolina 24, Wofford 17
Gibbs Stadium – Spartanburg, S.C.

Western Carolina head coach Mark Speir:
Post-game thoughts:
“I’m so proud of our football team. These coaches had a great plan, and the players came in and did a great job and executed. The defense did a great job of getting turnovers – we got four in the first half and we had our one on the first play of second half we did not execute. Our defense did a great job on take-a-ways.”

On Wofford executing the on-side kick leading to their second TD:
“That was my fault on the onside kick. We were guessing that they were going to do that, but that is a great job on them, they executed it perfectly.”

More post-game thoughts:
“We told our players that we are proud of them – and the chicken tastes better on the way home after a good win. Now we got to find a way to score one more point than Samford on Homecoming. We are going to need our fans more than ever. It was great today. I believe we had as many fans as they did. I want to challenge the Catamount Nation to show up and break the WCU attendance record and be loud next Saturday in Cullowhee.”

Western Carolina junior linebacker, Tyson Dickson:
On the post-game vibe of the WCU locker room:
“The vibe is happy and everybody is excited for the win; now we need to move forward.”

On what year he was born in reference to WCU’s last road win at Wofford:
“1994. I know that we hadn’t won here in a long time and I wasn’t born yet. It means a lot and that Western Carolina has come a long way, new program and new coaches.”

Western Carolina senior quarterback, Troy Mitchell:
On his thoughts following the win over Wofford:
“We just came out there to execute. It was a total team effort, the offense, defense, and special teams.”
