Cullowhee, N.C. – Beginning with an opening-night Southern Conference meeting under the lights against Mercer on Labor Day weekend, kickoff times for Western Carolina’s six-game 2019 home schedule were unveiled today. In addition to the evening kickoff at 6:00 pm for the opener on August 31, the schedule features four mid-afternoon starts at 3:30 pm and one early-afternoon game at 2 pm for the regular season home finale.

The season and conference opener against Mercer features a Purple Out with all fans urged to wear purple to the game, bookended with the traditional pregame Freshmen run and fan-favorite post-game fireworks presented by Ingles and iHeartMedia affiliates, 99.9 Kiss Country and Star 104.3.

The middle of the 2019 schedule includes three-consecutive mid-afternoon, 3:30 pm kickoffs including the “Gold Out” meeting with North Greenville on Sept. 14 and the Oct. 5 WCU Family Weekend game against non-conference foe, Gardner-Webb. The annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 26 is also slated for a 3:30 pm kickoff as the Catamounts host chromatic league rival, Furman, at Whitmire Stadium / Waters Field.

For a second-straight season, WCU will host a men’s basketball/football doubleheader. On Saturday, Nov. 9, Mark Prosser and the Catamount men’s basketball team hosts Gardner-Webb – a NCAA tournament team a season ago – at Noon in the first announced hoops game for 2019-2020, that ahead of the “Blue Ridge Border Battle” between WCU and mountain-rival, ETSU, set to kickoff at 3:30 pm.

The Catamounts’ home slate concludes with a Hall of Fame Day / Senior Day meeting with the Samford Bulldogs on Nov. 16 with an early-afternoon scheduled 2:00 pm start.

Additional promotional information and game coverage details for each of WCU's six home games will be announced at a later date.

Kickoff times for several road games have also been released including the announced 12:30 pm start for the Sept. 7 road game at ACC-foe, North Carolina State. The SoCon road game at Chattanooga (Sept. 28) will kick at 4:00 pm, while the league tilts at both Wofford (Oct. 19) and VMI (Nov. 2) have also unveiled kickoff times of 1:30 pm.

Season tickets for Western Carolina’s 2019 home schedule are on sale now through the Catamount Athletics ticket office, located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center, by phone at (800) 34-GOWCU, and online at Three different seat types – reserved chair back, bench back reserved, and traditional stadium bleacher – options are available for the six home dates at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field with season ticket prices beginning at $90 for an adult general admission and $55 for a youth bleacher seat.

Returning WCU Football season ticket holders must renew their season tickets by this Friday, June 28, 2019, to lock-in their same seats from last year. The Catamount Club’s fiscal year deadlines for renewals is Sunday, June 30.
