CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Western Carolina track & field teams had a combined 13 top-10 finishes on the first day of the outdoor season Friday in the 49er Classic.

Brandon Harvey was the winner in the men’s high jump as he cleared a height of 1.93 meters (6’4”).

Trini Feggett earned a third-place finish in the men’s 100-meter dash as he zoomed down the track in 10.57 seconds. Feggett was the fastest freshman in the field and top finishing runner behind a pair of Charlotte 49ers.

Mike Jones finished in third place in the men’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.75.

Dakota Wright scored a third-place result in the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 55.63 meters (182’6”).

In the women’s long jump, Makaila McIntyre finished in fourth place thanks to her leap of 5.50 meters (18’0.5”).

Dakota Oxendine finished in fourth place in the men’s high jump invite thanks to his height of 1.93 meters (6’4”). Tyler Hanks tied for 10th place in the event after he cleared 1.88 meters (6’2”).

Shon Pratcher finished in fifth place in the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.97 meters (22’10.5”). Brandon Okafor scored a 10th-place finish with a mark of 6.78 meters (22’3”).

Christina Nikolaou finished in sixth place in the women’s 5,000-meter invite with a new personal-best time of 17:37.33. In the second section of the women’s 5,000-meter run, Lindsey Trotter was the winner with a time of 18:13.77. 

Carter Unger finished tied for seventh place in the women’s pole vault invite as she cleared a height of 3.25 meters (10’8”).

In the women’s hammer throw, Simone Williams finished in 10th place thanks to her throw of 46.60 meters (115’11”).

The meet continues Saturday at 10 a.m. with the men’s shot put and women’s javelin.
