LYNCHBURG, Va. – Western Carolina had student-athletes score top-five finishes in the men's and women's weight throw on the opening day of the Darius Dixon Invitational hosted by Liberty University.

Senior Dakota Wright finished third in the men's weight throw with a mark of 18.27 meters (59'11.2”)

Senior Simone Williams scored a fourth-place result in the women's weight throw thanks to her throw of 18.30 meters

The meet continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the men's and women's long jump. Track events start at 11 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries. A live results link can be found on www.catamountsports.com.
