Steven Grandy came to Western Carolina University in July, 2018 after working at USC Upstate as the Associate Athletic Communications Director.
While at USC Upstate, Grandy served as the media contact for the baseball, women’s basketball, cross country, track and field and women’s tennis. He was responsible for the nomination and promotion of multiple CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients as well as numerous ASUN Conference award winners.
Before his tenure at USC Upstate, Grandy was the Assistant Sports Information Director at Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, North Carolina. In this capacity he served as media contact for eight collegiate sports as well as official scorer for softball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball. While in Mars Hill, he also was employed by the Asheville Tourists as an official scorer and MLB Gameday Stringer.
Prior to 2014, he was a Media Relations Intern for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the AA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Grandy also interned with the Charlotte Motor Speedway in the communications department during the fall of 2012.
He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina in 2012. As a student, he was both Sports Editor and Editor-in-Chief of The Weekly Triangle, the student newspaper.
Grandy grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated from Wakefield High School in 2008 where he lettered in Cross Country and Track and Field. He is an avid fan of auto racing and Pittsburgh sports teams.
