Cullowhee, N.C. - After getting a complete-game shutout on Saturday from Chris Mason, Spartan pitcher Ryan Falcon duplicated the feat on Sunday as UNC Greensboro (26-10, 11-7 Southern Conference) defeated Western Carolina (17-24, 7-14 SoCon) 8-0 Sunday afternoon at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium.

Falcon (1-3) only allowed six hits and two walks, while striking out seven. Offensively, Jay Maule went 4-for-5 with five RBI to lead the Spartans.

The Spartans got on the board first as the lead off batter, Jeremy Roulin drew a walk. Maule followed with a two-run home run, giving him six for the season and making the score 2-0.

Falcon and WCU relief pitcher Daniel Lindner went back and fourth through four innings, not allowing a run by either team.

However, in the seventh inning, UNC Greensboro extended its lead to 8-0. Ryan Galligan welcomed new Catamount pitcher Brian McCullen with a double, moving to third on a Alden single. Galligan would later score on a double play ground out by Lavender.
